Jennifer R. Grandis(Biography)
Dr. Jennifer R. Grandis received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pennsylvania, and completed her internship from the same institution. Dr. Grandis completed both a residency and an Infectious Disease fellowship from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining UCSF, Dr. Grandis was the UPMC Endowed Chair in Head and Neck Cancer Surgical Research and Distinguished Professor of Otolaryngology and Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh. She led the Head and Neck Cancer Program and was the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Grandis’s research focuses on the signal transduction in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) development and progression with the ultimate goal of targeting key pathways for therapeutic benefit. By taking key findings from the clinic and investigating mechanisms in a series of preclinical models, as well as developing novel therapeutic approaches in the laboratory and carrying out innovative clinical trials that employ these treatment strategies.

Margo K. Apostolos, PhD, is the Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Cedars-Sinai/USC Glorya Kaufman Dance Medicine Center, as well as an Associate Professor of Dance at USC. Apostolos holds a PhD in Physical Education with a minor in Philosophy from Stanford University, an MA in Dance from Northwestern University, and a BS in Physical Education with a minor in Dance from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Her practice-based work in training dancers and athletes has spanned over four decades, and she has trained numerous Olympians and professional athletes. Furthermore, Apostolos was a pioneer in the development of Robot Choreography and received a prestigious NASA/JPL Faculty Fellowship for work in space telerobotics. She collaborates with humans as well as robots.

Dr. Jeong, the new Chairperson of World Taekwondo's medical and anti-doping committee, is the Director of Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and was the first to introduce point-of-care ultrasound to World Taekwondo. He has extensive experience with point-of-care ultrasound in primary care, sports medicine, emergency and critical care medicine. He is certified in diagnostic musculoskeletal (RMSK), abdominal (RDMS), and EM POCUS sonography (APCA). He has authored three book chapters on the subject and created curriculum for international Taekwondo team doctors, attending physicians, fellows, resident physicians, and medical students. He has been invited to teach nationally recognised ultrasound workshop programmes at the UC Irvine Annual Ultrafest.

Dr. Jike Lu is an orthopaedic surgeon and the Chairperson and Professor of the Department of Orthopaedics at Wenzhou Medical University, BJU, in Beijing, China. His doctorate was completed at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Dr. Lu was a qualified orthopaedic spine surgeon and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Xinjiang Medical University prior to his doctoral studies in Australia. Dr. Lu has a decade of experience in orthopaedic trauma, tumours, joint replacement, and spinal surgeries. He has worked in a number of hospitals in Melbourne and Sydney. Dr. Lu's primary clinical interest is adult and paediatric orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Lu has also taught orthopaedic surgery as a visiting professor at Wenzhou Medical University. Dr. Lu has more than 30 years of clinical experience in the treatment of cancer.

Diana graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in solid state gyroscopes (UH). Diana has received 30 patents on solid-state sensors and, more recently, on medical applications involving the use of these sensors. Diana was awarded an MBE in 2000 for services to SMEs in the region, and in 2002 she was named Women Inventor of the Year for Industry. Diana received an honorary doctorate from the University of Hawaii in 2005 for her contributions to innovation. Diana and her husband started their own business in 1995, and in 2009 they released GaitSmart, a sensor-based gait monitoring product. This system is now used in a variety of medical and sporting applications.Â
